A really great little essay, and what a sad story of academia. What makes it fascinating is that the interdepartmental struggles follow and flow from the general political climate of the periods. It's funny to think of the neoclassicals as something like evangelicals of some religious order, marching in lock step to some bizarre tune no one else hears. What's with these guys?
