Marvin, I think that Boris Kagarlitsky’s judgement is fair enough. Personally,
I would not associate much anymore these days with the so-called Left, because
they are worse than useless, i.e. they make the problems worse. Certainly,
these “comrades” made my problems worse (they call you a “comrade” while they
steal from you, stab you in the back and exploit you, and they are nowhere to
be found when you need help, because helping somebody else is “not political”).

This is especially true of the Stalinophiles, the Trotskyphiles and the
Maophiles. Their theory is, that you should point a gun at the workers’ heads,
and tell them, that if they don’t build socialism, they will get a bullet in
their brain. If the workers then ask, how they should build socialism, the
Stalinites, Trotskyites and Maoites just make something up. They are willing to
“discuss”, of course, but in the end the workers should do as they are told (as
told in a long monologue from their great leader).

However, fortunately, not all is lost, since the Left consists of far more
people than the loony Marxist-Leninist Left, the Lefty academics, and the
socialistic students.

There are a lot of ordinary working people in society who are very much on the
Left, except that they are not silly about it, and you won’t find them
testifying about it all the time on market square or in stinky lecture halls
etc. The loony left and the academic left would not even be able to recognize
these people, but they are certainly there.

J. PS – I am not really a fan of sado piss-sex, I was merely describing the
leak antics of the Dutch political class.
