I was around KPFK when Marc Cooper was there. He was not a bad journalist. But the "professionalizing" managers he supported wanted to turn Pacifica into another NPR. When he calls Goodman names: Democracy Now was the most popular program on Pacifica at the time, and one the new management tried to eliminate. So what he hates about her was that she fought back. Yeah she also is an opportunist. But attempt to eliminate her was a very close paraellel to later pushing Doug off WBAI. I don't know what the answer is, but those really corrupt and awful "professionalizers" Cooper supported were no solution.
