(Just posted as a comment on my blog) It’s about time someone put an end to the ‘fascist coup’ nonsense peddled first by the Russian government and Ukrainian Communist Party and then by our leftists, which was a crazy reminder of Soviet propaganda duping the western left, and how easy that was. You also pretty much put an end to the even wilder assertion that Maidan was nothing but a western-engineered fake uprising, where Ukrainians robotically took to the streets at the behest of NGOs (or something). The latest article by the Autonomous Workers Union, a Ukrainian groups, says if anything it was more like a neoliberal coup (but, internal) while like you stressing how Svoboda and RS have very little popular support. But the uprising wasn’t ‘staged’ by neoliberals – millions of ordinary people took to the streets on their own to protest a corrupt government. That’s the most insulting part about the reaction of ‘the left’ – that all those people and their efforts to oust a president should be completely dismissed.
