Why not take a more aggressive stand and argue that
college should be free? It is is some countries. David
Graeber had a piece in the Guardian about the big
demonstration in London, where young people
made just this demand. If we don't stop asking that
bad things stop or asking for minor, piecemeal
changes, we are unlikely to get anything at all. Every time
I hear someone say, let's take a long-term view, without
ever specifying exactly what that is, 
and go slowly now, I want to scream. How often have
Black people heard that shit. Obama was babbling
about it in his remarks about Ferguson. Check out
Robin D.G. Kelley's essay in today's Counterpunch.
It's about Ferguson. He uses the phrase "while we waited."
The end of that phrase is always--bad things happened.
