raghu: What's the political economy of this kind of stuff? It puts more pressure on younger workers, who must aid their parents, and it adds many of retirement age to the reserve army of labor. It seems to me that the latter goal is at the heart of most of what we call neoliberalism. Read Our Mutual Friend and Little Dorritt. Especially the latter.
