Actually Gar has not got this close to correct.

Gar is about right about the existing readers but if the new subscribers are 
younger than the pre-existing average, the readership will age more slowly than 
Gar's algorithm (to use the language of those younger than I.)  On the other 
hand, if not many young new subscribers join, then the rate of aging will 
outpace Gar's result.
