Joseph Catron: For those who aren't familiar with Lou, he's a man who cares very little about facts. You can make of it what you will, but disseminating accurate information is not one of his top priorities (nor low ones). To be frank, he seems to make most of it up as he goes, perhaps assuming his decent talent for polemics will compensate.
--------- I think Lou's argument is seriously defective -- but mere assertions that his facts ar false (or deliberately false) do nothing to move debate forward. The sentence you quote is, I admit, silly, but not because of its alleged facts; it is silly even if the facts are true, and it is no more silly if his facts are false. There are serious political issues here, issues which can't be easily clarified, and your response is simply obscurantisst. Carrol For example, I pointed out to him over a year ago that this exact claim was false: http://lists.csbs.utah.edu/pipermail/marxism/2014-April/252066.html He replied as well, so I assume he was aware of it at some point: http://lists.csbs.utah.edu/pipermail/marxism/2014-April/252067.html Needless to say, that obviously won't stop him from repeating it.
