This is a very important development, perhaps lending support to Herb Stein's dictum that if something is unsustainable, it cannot go on for ever.
Actually, according to the Administration, the US doesn't need the rest of the world's support for any reason at all; we're the unmovable prime mover. As Bush advisor Ron Suskind said in this week's New York Times magazine: "We�re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you�re studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we�ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that�s how things will sort out. We�re history�s actors � and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."
