On whether or not Political Affairs is "independent":
In the e-mail to the Swans list to which Louis Proyect refers, I did not say Political Affairs was "independent." I did say it no longer considers itself the "theoretical journal" of the CPUSA. These are very distinct things and have to do with political questions over whether or not "tj" remains a suitable term for a working class publication, etc. PA remains and will remain a publication of the Communist Party and will continue to express the ideas, opinions and politics of the same.
I won't rehash the discussions over this question held by PA's editors for the whole board. If you are bored enough to really want to know, please e-mail me offlist.
Also, read PAs "about us" statement http://www.politicalaffairs.net.
All my best,
Joel Wendland
