How about, since this is Appeal To The Religious Week, just saying that gutting SS is a pretty poor way to "Honor thy Father and Mother?"
Yes, but remember that this is a New Testament crowd, and that gives them at least a couple of loopholes, i.e.:
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters -- yes, even his own life -- he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26)
"For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -- a man's enemies will be the members of his own household." (Matthew 10:35�36)
There's no end to the wackiness once religion enters the public-policy realm.
