A second cousin of mine was very prominent in Berkeley radical activity during the late 60s. Later, I was surprised to learn that she became the special assistant to the American ambassador to Russia if you years later. The last I saw her, she was in the hospital for cancer, which she seems to have picked up from the intense microwaves that were supposedly directed at the embassy. A number of the workers there came down with cancer.
