Sure, I'll send you some stuff offline when I get it done. It's just for fun -- I'm interested in the subject, and Medvedev has an easy-going, clear writing style that it is a pleasure to translate. Basically the book is about Moscow's more-or-less unique (according to Medvedev anyway -- I'm not an expert on city economies) and extremely successful model fo what Med calls "municipal capitalism," which means basically capitalism directed by City Hall with a heavy dose of social-democratic largesse. Muscovites live well, and Moscow is a rich city -- it's got 70% or so of the money in Russia after all. You can see this reflected in the fact that what Medvedev calls the "New Moscow Proletariat," that is, blue-collar workers, are largely not from Moscow but migrants from the provinces and foreigners. This book has actually made me into a fan of Luzhkov, his hideous taste in statues notwithstanding. It would be good to read this book in tandem with Timothy Colton's great book on Soviet-era Moscow city planning, Moscow: Governing the Socialist Metropolis, I think.
