"The N.H.L. becomes the first major pro sports league in North America
to lose an entire season to a profit dispute."
No, not really. This is what they actually wrote:
"The N.H.L. becomes the first major pro sports league in North America
to lose an entire season to a labor dispute."
It's always a "labor dispute", a "labor problem" --- the weary,
unvarnished, and ill-tempered gaze of wealth upon its subjects.

much as media 'reports' on 'labor strikes' but never 'capital
strikes'...

current nhl situation stems from owner 'lock out' of players, in other
words, capital went on strike...

was at 'media and education' workshop some years ago here in orblando,
attended panel that included editor big shot from local monopoly
newspaper, during q&a i asked this person why there was a 'business'
page but no 'labor' page in the newspaper, she and others on panel
looked at me like i was daft, not sure how hard she actually tried but
she seemed unable to understand my question, it was apparently outside
her view of world, i eventually gave up after several tries... michael
