Job Opening Magazine Editor Dollars & Sense, the 30-year-old progressive economics publisher based in Boston, Mass., seeks a magazine co-editor. We publish an 8,000-circulation bimonthly magazine and nine book titles. Dollars & Sense Magazine has a national audience of activists, academics, union members, and progressives. Our classroom books introduce left perspectives into college courses in economics and other social sciences.
The magazine co-editor shares responsibility with the other co-editor for managing the content of the magazine, including editorial planning, soliciting and editing articles, locating graphics, and writing some content. S/he plans the production calendar and coordinates with the layout designer and printer. As part of a team of two business and two other editorial staff, the magazine co-editor works closely with a volunteer collective of activists and social scientists committed to social justice and economic democracy. Staff members are automatically members of the D&S collective and attend Thursday evening collective meetings, where editorial and business decisions are made. All staff members participate in planning and carrying out promotion and fundraising activities, and all share a range of administrative and clerical tasks in the office. Excellent editing and administrative skills, progressive politics, and professional experience required. Advanced degree in economics or a related field desirable. Activist experience desirable.
