Finally, Lou's long-awaited essay on The Battle of Algiers is up at
<http://mrzine.monthlyreview.org/proyect120805.html>. It's an
excellent essay, and it's no wonder -- Lou read more than 2,000 pages
of various sources for this! A big fan of Gillo Pontecorvo myself, I
spent quite a bit of time finding film stills to go with the article
-- the page is looking very beautiful, and I pat my own back. I
commissioned him to do a review of Patrick Bond's new work, so look
forward to that, too.

Seth's interview with Kenneth Burt, political director of the
California Federation of Teachers, has been up since August 8:

Bush has sunk in popularity, Schwarzenegger is sinking, too, with the
weight of his own hubris. Seth's next article on GM should be coming
soon.

The next PEN-pal article at mrzine.org will be Martin Hart-
Landsberg's "South Korea: The Unraveling of an Economy" on August
15. Last time around, Marty's China article topped the perennial MR
favorite Einstein on Socialism. Pretty soon, Marty will be able to
claim that he is more popular than Jesus Christ!
