I'm looking at Greg LeRoy's Jobs Scam book. He estimates that corporations extract $50 billion per year in state and local government subsidies designed to lure businesses or keep them from moving away. That figure is smaller than the estimated hundred billion dollar Katrina losses, but it is an annual figure.
The feedback system between corporate tax scams, including the accounting scams that even mentioned a couple days ago, and the destruction of the infrastructure is very interesting -- to say the least. Remember Clinton's initial promise to get the country moving by developing the infrastructure. That went away of gays in the military.
