At present, China's wind electric power generation
capacity
is about 800,000 kilowatts, and the country plans
to increase
this figure to 50 million kilowatts by
2030.
Experts estimate that wind power will help the country to reduce
emission of greenhouse gases by 110,000 tons each year.
KEP to
Build Wind Power Plant in Inland China
BEIJING, September 7,
SinoCast -- Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPC) expressed on September 6
that it will joint hands with China Datang Corporation (CDT) to establish a wind
electric power plant in northwestern China's Gansu Province.
CDT is one
of the major state-owned companies in China's electricity
industry.
According to the agreement, the power plant will commence
construction in the coming October and complete by the end of next
June.
After completion, it is expected to reach a power generating
capacity of 49,000 kilowatts.
The whole project is budgeted for USD 57.5
million, in which KEP will invest USD 7.68 million and then become the second
largest shareholder of the plant.
While the remaining 66.6% of the total
investment will be raised from Chinese banks.
KEP said the project will
help strengthen its presence in China's growing wind electric power
market.
So far, KEP is the first foreign enterprise engaged in wind
electric power generation in China's inland areas.
At present, China's
