Ravi -- I like your idea:
one interesting option is to have the blog post to pen-l. so, say you are writing up a commentary on the current US budget, you could post it to the blog, and the blog software can be configured to automatically also send a link (and either all or some of the text) to the list. Also, why not have the posts to the list appear as discussion threads on the website? This way, we have the advantages of a site, permanence, as well as email, interactivity. Just the other day (23/9/05 12:23 pm), Jim Devine opined: > Is it possible that someone (Michael Perelman?) could decide which > submissions to pen-l are the most interesting, important, or useful -- > and thus should be recorded on the pen-l blog? > the blog is useful as a tool for somewhat structured individual thought-bites. less as a reference, for which the wiki/site model works better. the blog, since it provides RSS feeds and is the latest craze, is a good way to attract surfers to our musings. so, if you there are posts that should be reference material (jim devine's explication of nash equilibria) then a wiki is the right forum. instead, links and analysis current events, etc can be blogged. one interesting option is to have the blog post to pen-l. so, say you are writing up a commentary on the current US budget, you could post it to the blog, and the blog software can be configured to automatically also send a link (and either all or some of the text) to the list. one thing that i do want to make clear is that i do not want a blog or wiki to supplant this list or add redundant functionality. all of this is not really much of a direct response to your message quoted above. i think its not a bad idea -- perhaps there can be an editorial board that elevates posts to blog or wiki pages. --ravi -- If you wish to contact me, you will get my attention faster by substituting "r" for "listmail" in my email address. Thank you!
