The "politics of the situation" have nothing to do with what "we" are doing technically, and everything to do with who the "we" that is doing whatever and with the task of replacing that "we" with a different we. Under present conditions technical issues are simply irrelevant, and a focus on them is a disastrous deflection from politics. The same applies to discussion of the Occupation of Iraq. Discussions of "how" the u.s. government might do that and what the problems of withdrawal will be are a serious and condemnable deflection from the real problem of organizing pressure on the government to withdraw.
