Iran on Monday said India's vote against it at the
International Atomic
Energy Agency (IAEA) would not affect bilateral ties.

Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani was
quoted as saying by the
ISNA news agency that the votes against the country by
certain nations,
including allies China, Russia and India, would not
change Tehran's stance
towards them.

Larijani said despite last week's referral of the
Iranian nuclear case to
the UN Security Council, Tehran was still seeking
diplomatic channels to
settle the dispute.

"We are in no diplomatic war with any country and the
doors to diplomacy are
not closed...not even to those countries which have
not had suitable
behaviour with us," he said.

Larijani's comments were in a marked contrast to
Iran's stand following
India's vote against it at an earlier IAEA meeting in
September 2005. It had
then indicated it could pull out of a project to build
a pipeline to carry
Iranian gas to India via Pakistan.

After Saturday's vote in Vienna, India too had
repeated its commitment to
maintain "close and friendly ties" with Iran and
supported its right to
civilian nuclear energy.
