I'm not sure this is true at all.  The nice doctor still challenged British oil 
supremacy,
but he still lacked the demonesque qualities that Washington appreciates.  We 
appreciate
enemies who can be easily painted as evil.

Do you remember when Colin Powell bemoaned the fact that we were running out of 
enemies --
that we were down to Kim Jong-il and Castro?
