Given the fact that they're the beneficiaries of the imbalance, the Israeli extremely violent and totally disproportionate response to the Hezbollah kidnappings (and the irrationality of deciding to punish and destabilize Lebanon) seems a sign of deep _psychological_ or _sociological_ or _economic_ insecurity. It's not like they need to worry about purely military matters.
There is a source of repressed insecurity: If Palestinian citizens of Israel (nearly 20% of the Israeli population) revolt en masse, opening another front at home so to speak, it will be a devastating blow against the Israel power elite's sense of security. But they don't seem to be, at this point. Will they ever? -- Yoshie <http://montages.blogspot.com/> <http://mrzine.org> <http://monthlyreview.org/>
