The apparent failure of attempts by terrorists to blow up a number of planes bound for the US has nevertheless caused huge lineups and multiple cancellations of flights as well as radical changes in what one can have in carry on luggage (and even the disallowance of carry on luggage in some cases). Surely the new regulations will cost more to enforce, discourage air travel, and result in more red ink for airlines. Isn't this a success since it causes widespread economic damage?
