In my discussion of the Whigs and antislavery politics, I think it was
quite clear that miniscule third parties in the right time and place
can, with sufficient persistence, force realignments...which leads to
a new, broader insurgency, etc., etc., etc.

Yet, expecting the Democratic Party "Marxists" to read something that
doesn't fuel their comforting illusions is about like expecting fans
of FOX News to change the channels and seek out other ways of seeing
things...and using their own critical faculties to figure out what to
do....

Like alcoholics, they whine, "One more drink.  Just one more drink.
I'll quit later.  Some time when it'll be easy to quit."

Or smokers (I know this one very well and very personally), "Just one
more cigarette.  Just for today.  Maybe one more pack.  It'll be
easier to quit later."
