Four more years at least, then, as I said.  Except the end result will
probably be more like the end of the Korean War (the absence of
anti-war and other uprisings in the streets at home makes the Iraq War
more like the Korean War than the Vietnam War), with a permanent US
presence in the Kurdish region of Iraq, unless the Kurds surprise me
and rebel against their pro-Washington leaders and US presence.

The Iranians and
Syrians will be counted upon to secure the respective cooperation of the
warring Shia and Sunni factions to this end.

Except that Tehran and Damascus don't have as much control over Shia
and Sunni factions in Iraq as they probably wish and the Baker wing of
the power elite may believe.
