"Christians" is, I think, the wrong category. The "Christian Right" (politically active right-wing evangelicals and fundamentalists) have been around only a few decades as a significant political force. And those categories are, perhaps, too broadly defined. We can't know how long these groups may flourish, but that flourishing could be quite unstable, subject to great swings. Carrol
