we get two newspapers delivered each day, the NY Times and the local
rag, the Daily Breeze. Until recently, they were delivered in the same
plastic wrapper. But then the Breeze stopped being with the Times and
started coming unwrapped (a risky strategy during the rainy season).
As far as I can tell, this shift (clearly not a tectonic one) occurred
because the Hearst chain bought the Breeze (for later sale to another
chain). Silly. Who was it that said that corporations keep costs to a
minimum?
