I have been largely off-line because I have been traveling, visiting family and the economics meetings.
I notice that that very little of an economic nation has appeared on the list. I wish that we could get a bit more focused. People have been dropping off because of the extensive volume, much of which has not really contributed new information. I would like to learn more about the implications of recent currency fluctuations, the loading up of corporate debt in the new round of leveraged buyouts -- even though this new cohort is somewhat different -- and new trends in the wage employment picture. I would like to learn more about emerging economic happenings in other countries (Venezuela, China, and Mexico, to mention a few countries that have come under discussion), also important economic debates, and much more. Just as an experiment, I would like to see the list open up to new people. Let me suggest that beginning tomorrow morning, nobody who has posted over the last week send anything to do list for 24 hours, in the hopes that some lurkers will relent and jump in to the conversation. -- Michael Perelman Economics Department California State University Chico, CA 95929 Tel. 530-898-5321 E-Mail michael at ecst.csuchico.edu michaelperelman.wordpress.com
