Doyle;/ Martha Nussbaum has characterized 'disgust' or contempt as a foundation for an emotional wall. If I remember left history, our concept is criticism and self criticism. Meaning people can be re-educated. The idea you have contempt for any of this means you have shut down emotionally in order to block out what you don't want to hear. Usually in my view as time goes by this attitude gives way to thoughtfulness and when you want to discuss things as if criticism and self criticism is a good way to educate you are welcome. What is needed is openess in the sense that contempt does not produce. Not acceptance of racism, but to bring forward educate and change. thanks, Doyle
