Doyle;
Likewise, and somewhat related to this thread I chafe at not being able
to use pictures and movies here. Not I mean by links.

A co-worker/friend got her license to preach last night in a local Mt
Zion Missionary Baptist Church. It's a kick to make pictures these
days. They had a video camera on in the back and occasionally someone
took a flash during the service. I had a cigarette packet sized
digital camera to shoot with and I don't use flash usually so people
don't even know when I click the shutter, but I offer to show them
pictures and they can erase what they don't want to represent them.

I'm really rather jaundiced about how churches communicate to the
community they represent. But to make those statements here in any
sort of context, it's tough to show by typing text what a pulpit up in
the air over the audience does. Or how religions use their space to
communicate a very specific kind of content. The bible was very
prominently displayed up front, and every one was trying to keep up
with the bible references read alongs.

I'm sure one could do similar visual points with local Mosques, and
Buddhist Temples.

It would be fun to explore these kinds of questions out in the world
where people actually practice what they preach.
