You are cordially invited to attend the upcoming conference, Law and Democracy in the Empire of Force." to be held at the Law School on April 13-14.
Twelve distinguished speakers will discuss their perceptions of the deep changes that have been taking place in the practice and teaching of law, and in our democracy more generally, over the past couple of decades. The conference is organized by Professor James Boyd White of our faculty and Professor H. Jefferson Powell of Duke University. Speakers will include, among others, the Honorable John Noonan of the 9th Circuit, Professors Jed Rubenfeld from Yale, Robin West from Georgetown, Howard Lesnick from Penn, our own Brian Simpson and Joseph Vining, Barry Sullivan from Jenner and Block, and Martin Bohmer, Dean of the law school at San Andres University in Argentina. Conference attendance is free and requires no registration. There is a fee for meals ($20 for lunch; $60 for the evening reception and dinner). If you wish to attend the lunch and dinner you must register by March 22.
