Jim: > do the Finns have any special relationship with the Turks?
I don't know whether they are or not but there are claims that Finnish and Turkish languages are related. Both are Ural-Altaic languages some say, although I also heard claims to the contrary, that is, that Finnish is not an Asiatic language. I suspect that Turks and Hungarians have closer ties than Turks and Finns. To my knowledge Hungarian is also a Ural-Altaic language. The other group of Ural-Altaic languages consists of Japanese, Korean and Mongolian. One of the above sets is Uralian whereas the other set is Altaic they say but I don't recall which one is which. At least, this is what I know. But this is undeniable: Turkey and Findland are the only countries other than Argentina where Tango became very popular. Tango is loved both in Turkey and Finland.
