JK Galbraith once noted that almost all monetary radicals are political
conservatives (viz, Milton Friedman) - they want to make radical changes to
the monetary system in order to avoid making them anywhere else.

Pound was perceptive in one important respect. If you want to control
capitalist evils by manipulating money, you must have a fascist state.
Of course, when you get that fascist state, it gets rid of or shuffles
to the side its intellectual supporters and proceeds merrily to support
capitalism unabridged.
