CB: Isn't "populism" a particularly United Statesian term ?

It's possible that the term was first invented and used in the USA,
but I do not know its actual first usage. Populismo is in common
usage in Spanish, and probably most frequently studied examples of
populist governments in history, political science, etc. are Latin
American ones. Juan PerĂ³n's government probably comes to many
people's minds as a classic example.
