That's the thing. If Obama were actually serious about the importance
of expanding ecumenical alliance for social justice, I'd welcome his
multicultural piety, but it all seems only for the purpose of creating
a superficially attractive biography for himself without committing
himself to any principle other than the maintenance of the status quo
of liberal imperialism.
He *is* the very model of a modern mass-media candidate (apologies to
Gilbert & Sullivan)... which in and of itself is not a bad thing, if
only because it's necessary, but I think he's also a corporate kid
(Why WAS he raised in Indonesia? What did his parents do for their
livelihood? Oil industry?), and as such, not particularly prone to say
what he really believes, just what he wants everyone to think he
believes, to get what *he* wants.
What *I* want is someone honest... even if the person IS a war pig, at
least we'd know they are...
