He is a URPE member. The URPE list broadcasts his bloggings. I'm not sure every URPE member gets this break from the list moderator. Palley used to teach at the New School a rather mild brand of neokeynesianism (if you ask me). I must say that I make this bold inference on the basis of a single observation. I sat in one of his classes, not for one semester, but for one single session. I felt that I didn't need more. After the New School, he became an economist for the AFL-CIO. More recently he was hired by the Stiglitz/Soros think tank. I don't know whether his current project is a spin-off of the Stiglitz/Soros venue or a totally new toy just for him. There's nothing wrong (per se) with raising money from Soros (or the devil for that matter). What matters is how that money is spent. Palley may be a bit too inclined to please the donor, if I'm to read too much from the name of his project. A measure of him, in my humble opinion, is given by his strident attacks against China's commercial threat to the poor United States -- oh and by that terrifying threat that makes us all shudder: Mexican immigrants. His heterodox approach to the world unity of the working class does it for me. (I'm cc-ing him hereby.)
