I saw Michael Moore's Sicko last night. Remarkable film with the chance of effecting a revolution in the US health care delivery system. Much better, I think, than his last films.
I was, however, disappointed with his naive retelling of the story of the Clintons' health care "reform" effort in their first term, making Hillary into some sort of heroine, rather than the person who peppered her commission with corporados from insurance and big pharma , ultimately shaking them down for increased campaign funds and sidetracking any real efforts at improved health care for 16 years, at the very least. Michael Moore seems unable to shake the illusions of his yellow dog Democrat youth. Despite this flaw, the film is a killer expose of the stupidity of the American health care experience, as well as the stupidity of the American people who don't revolt against it. Nice tie-ins, too, to the war in Iraq, the shameful treatment of injured soldiers and the American torture camps at Abu Ghraib and Gitmo. If I had four thumbs they'd all be up. Dan Scanlan
