Evelyn Keller's _Feeling for the Organism: The Life and Work of Barbara
McLintock_ is an important work on women in science, and also
illuminates many aspects of genetics for those of us untrained in that
field. If I remember correctly, Gould wrote a highly interesting review
of it i n the NLRB.
