This seems like a fair assessment. Is there perhaps an analogy with
Cuba which also has impressive human development achievements yet
cannot fully satisfy its economically ambitious residents? To
ambitious third world citizens, the apparent material wealth generated
by capitalism is an irresistible force, much like Hollywood is to
aspiring actors..
