Don't you think it is significant that Ahmadinajad did not denounce gays as criminals or deviants but instead denied they exist? Jim's explanation is very interesting i.e. the "the idea of "homosexuals" as a separate group within society is of relatively recent origin?" It is too bad that the one person who could have shed a lot of light on the Iranian perspective is no longer on PEN-L.. -raghu.
