Doyle; I agree with the meaning of your comment. I don't see systems biology as a huge shift in how things are done. What I am skeptical about is the 'Reductionism' cry that is aimed to my mind at a straw dog. Reductionism supposed to illustrate a kind of capitalist ideology or metaphysics of individual knowledge. I don't think the article proves much of anything beyond saying research is moving away from reductionist techniques in biology. Which offers new 'stuff'. True there are philosophers who call themselves reductionists. I just don't think that has much influence one way of the other. So summing up I agree with your remarks toward the value of 'systems' biology. :-) Doyle Saylor
