Winning 41% of the Vote, Farokhi Set for December Runoff



November 4, 2009, Washington, D.C. &ndash; Three Iranian American 
candidates were on the ballot on Election Day, November 3rd. Amir 
Farokhi ran for the Post 2 At-Large seat while Bahareh Azizi ran for 
the District 6 seat, both on Atlanta&rsquo;s City Council. Nina 
Mohadjer ran for the Board of Education in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

  PAAIA's New York Chapter Partners with the U.S. Census Bureau


November 3, 2009, New York, NY - The Tri-State New York Chapter of 
PAAIA has joined the U.S. Census Bureau&rsquo;s Regional 
Partnership Program in order to increase awareness amongst the Iranian 
American community about the importance of participating in the 
upcoming 2010 Census.  The regional partnership was launched in 
concurrence with the PAAIA/NexGen kick-off in New York City on 
September 17th.

  Miami-Dade Asian American Advisory Board Awards Academic Scholarships


Advisory Board, chaired by Shawn Khosravi, highlights contributions of 
Americans of Asian descent.



The Miami-Dade County Asian American Advisory Board awarded academic 
scholarships to college and high school students of Asian heritage, 
including Iranian American students at a ceremony on November 1st. The 
awards for academic excellence and public service honored 17 Asian 
American students of Korean, Chinese, Indian, Iranian, Filipino and 
Pakistani heritage who are Miami &ndash;Dade County residents.
