1. Choosing The Best Distribution.
If anybody charges money for asking this particular question, somebody would
become very rich very quickly.
There's no single 'best' distribution, it all depends on you yourself and
your very own preference. All distributions have its own unique qualities
and none can be said to be "overall winner". Besides once you've used Linux
for more than 6 months, I believe by then the system has become so
customised it can be said that it's your own Linux distro.
My general recomendation is that if you just started on Linux, use Red Hat,
SuSE, or Caldera Open Linux; these distros are meant to be easy to install
and run. (Corel Linux claimed to be easy to install and easier to run, but I
haven't tried it so you go figure out yourself.)
2. Ways to install Linux.
That's right I said "WAYS to install Linux". To be accurate, how you install
linux usually depends on your distro. You'll have to consult your distro's
documentation to be detail about it. But generally, you must make a
partition for the linux native filesystem, and a swap space, then you choose
the stuff you want and go straight to install the files.
Easy cake.
3. RTFM
Okay, so that wasn't too instructive. Well guess what, go RTFM! If you want
to ask question, go read the FAQ before anything else okay, dunno how to
find the FAQs? Try www.linux.org for a start.
Trust me, everything is there(on the net), you just have to SURF and READ.
You can find books on the net too, Red Hat Unleashed (www.informit.com), or
try some documentations by the exprienced linux users, www.linuxdoc.org.
If above all else you feel reading those boring FAQs and documentation is
too much to handle, I have news for you, Linux is NOT for you dude. You can
ask all the questions you want but if you keep asking answers-in-the-FAQ
type of questions, you'll piss ppl off and you never get what you want.
Tips
DO:
1. Bookmarks all the Linux documentation sites you think you might need it
later.
2. Read news groups for any problem similliar to yours.
3. Do read the HOWTOs and be curios to try it out before asking for help.
4. Make your qustions clear and use proper grammar, sentences, and language.
DON'T:
1. Don't believe everything, esspecially anything from the marketing ppl.
2. Don't ask stupid, frequently asked questions.
3. Don't expect ppl to solve your problem fr you.

Unless you write good technical books that I read before, the
only thing I need to know is your name, NOT some crappy post
