I might be seriously wrong but I just don't think monitor has anything to do
with setting up X. I believe the reason why your samsung monitor works after
upgrading to RH 6.1 is because of the newer version of XFree in RH 6.1
Anyway, usually uprading to newer version of X sever will solve X prob.
