That modem/soundcard combo is not supported in Linux. The manudacturer of
the chipset didn't release the register level codes for linux programmers to
make the driver for it. Winmodems are hard to code for since it uses a lot
of OS dependant functions to make your CPU emulate the functions of a modem.
The sound portion is also not supported as it is part of the underlying
layer of the modem chipset. You're probably off disabling sound on that card
and get a SB card. All SB cards are supported very well except the PCI
cards. But even those are catching up. I love my SB Live! especially now
that there is an opensource driver which I can hack.
