Uh huh. Yes, it's DOS line endings but the files (and hence the perl) are on a Linux box. Running the mailbox through dos2unix seems to fix the problem, thanks :)

(or a failing part of it) then I could have a look.

Do you still need it? It's definitely the line endings thing.
