Hotels feeling the pinch
Hotels in Kelantan are feeling the pinch from competition by restaurants and food stalls which have mushroomed during Ramadan.
Sutera Inn sales manager Nafsiah Yusof said many Kelantanese were flocking to the food stalls and restaurants to experience new flavours.
She said some restaurants were also promoting halal Chinese and Japanese food to entice diners.
Customers like to try something new when breaking fast and hotels try to meet the demand. However, there are now more competitors offering more choices.

Grand Riverview Hotel public relations and marketing manager Raja Rusmin Raja Mahmud said there was a noticeable drop in the number of diners to the hotel.
She hoped business would pick up at the end of Ramadan when locals return from other states to celebrate Hari Raya.
Renaissance Hotel has however registered encouraging sales since fasting began.
Public relations manager Nik Adura Zuliana Nik Rashid said steady sales at its coffeehouse could be attributed to an ongoing promotion where guests who spent a minimum of RM200 in one bill at any of its outlets or room, would receive a US$50 voucher which can be redeemed at any of its sister properties worldwide.
The offer along with our spread of 121 types of food could be the pulling factor. //Thestar 25 Oct
