Once the FileBench ARC case finishes up, then we'll update sourceforge with our changes. After that, we'll finish up the process work of getting FileBench into OpenSolaris.
The ARC case should be done within a week. You can track it here: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/arc/caselog/2007/ (the specific caselog will be here shortly): http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/arc/caselog/2007/448/ The discussion is happening here: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=36460&tstart=0 The changes that we have coming are two fold: 1) renaming of executables 2) major code cleanup As it currently stands there are two way to run filebench: profiles and interactive. We would really like the profiles approach to become the default way people run filebench. The profiles way today is currently executed via 'runbench'. To make it obvious its the default way, we're going to rename that executable to 'filebench'. The interactive mode (currently enacted via 'filebench') will be for experts only, and will be renamed 'go_filebench'. I'm kicking around the idea of having the interactive mode executed via 'filebench -i'. To do a comparison today, you run 'filebench_compare'. With the new naming scheme, that will become 'filebench -c'. With these changes, we can centralize around one executable: 'filebench'. Which we think makes the most sense. eric This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ perf-discuss mailing list perf-discuss@opensolaris.org
