Vivek, Please try with a more recent kernel. Try 2.6.25. There were no IBS changes however, the rest has changed a lot and several bugs have been fixed.
As for self-monitoring with IBS, you are probably the first to try this. If you could send your program to the list, I am sure people will try it on their hardware.
